2010 Hotel Guide has a silver lining for East Lodge

It’s official – East Lodge’s silver award in the enjoy England Awards for Excellence has led to the hotel and restaurant featuring prominently on the front cover of this year’s Official Tourist Board Guide to Hotels, from Enjoy England – a publication used to market England’s hotels both at home and abroad.

Now in its 35th edition, this trusted guide is celebrated as the official and most comprehensive guide to all independently inspected and quality assessed properties in England and the Channel Islands, and as silver award winners in the Enjoy England ‘Hotel of the Year’ category, East Lodge is featured pride of place on the front cover with a special editors note inside, in addition to its place in the main regional listings. The Enjoy England Awards are the annual accolades for English tourism, recognising only the best places to stay and visit. Renowned throughout the industry, the awards promote healthy competition and high standards. While star ratings are based on a combination of quality, range of facilities and level of service offered, gold and silver awards are particularly prized as they are based solely on quality.

Quality is the watchword at East Lodge and in addition to the hotel itself; the restaurant has two AA Rosettes and has previously before been voted a Derbyshire Restaurant of the Year and East Midlands Small Hotel of the Year. Food is one example of the quality aspect of East Lodge, being supervised by head chef Simon Bradley, who trained at The Ritz in Paris before working with Raymond Blanc at LeManoir.

“It is a fantastic achievement to win this Award, and to feature so prominently in the guide,” said East Lodge director Iain Hardman. “Seeing our hotel on the front cover is quite humbling and makes you realise how far we have come in a relatively short space of time. The Silver Award is important because it highlights the high standards achieved and the overall quality of the East Lodge experience, from the moment guests arrive.”

Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, East Lodge is the closest hotel to Chatsworth and has proved a popular place to stay and dine for visitors to the region and the famous House. East Lodge is also fast becoming the first choice for couples seeking the perfect wedding venue in the Peak District.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a wide range of prestigious accolades over recent years. The hotel has again achieved the coveted AA “Inspectors’ Choice” accolade with red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and East Lodge is one of just 48 hotels in UK presented with a Visit England Gold Award.

“We are improving East Lodge all the time, so we tend to see these awards as confirmation that we are getting it right,” said managing director Iain Hardman. “The testimonials from our guests are very important to us, but the awards and inclusion in the guide will hopefully introduce East Lodge to a new generation of guests who are visiting the region.”
