Multi award-winning hotel and restaurant East Lodge in Rowsley has added to its superb selection of local suppliers, by appointing the Clearblack Wine Company in Buxton to supply the hotel’s cellar with an excellent range of wines from around the world - perfect for all palates.
East Lodge is committed to using food and wine sourced from local suppliers, taking advantage where possible of the best fresh local and seasonal produce to provide a dining experience to rival anywhere in the country. With food prepared by celebrated chef Simon Bradley, for great dining there is no better place than East Lodge to enjoy an unrivalled culinary experience and the finishing touch is now provided by wines from Clearblack.
“With Clearblack based just around the corner in Buxton, we have access to their wines and expertise whenever we need them,” explained East Lodge director Iain Hardman. “All our food produce is locally sourced from local suppliers, so it made sense to do the same with our wine supplier, too. Clearblack have an excellent reputation and we have already started to notice the difference in the premium quality service they provide.”
Established in Buxton by wine experts Chris Palmer and Peter Minshull, Clearblack’s business is founded on the premise that genuine, independent advice secures the best wine. Already suppliers to some of the finest names in the business, it was natural that East Lodge would consider their professional services when looking for the best overall offer for its guests.
“At East Lodge we are as passionate about our wine as we are our food and working with Clearblack ensures we give our diners and guests the quality and diversity of wines they have come to expect from us,” explained Iain. “Naturally we have tested Clearblack’s wines before recommending them to guests, and we hope they enjoy them as much as we do!”
The Wine List at East Lodge needs to be diverse enough to complement the selection of superb dishes available on the menu, so encompasses everything from traditional wines from the old world, to modern wines from some of the finest producers from around the globe.
“We like to reflect seasonality in our produce and menu, while also showcasing the best produce Derbyshire has to offer,” added Iain. “There is no point in having the fine food, if you do not have equally fine wine to complement it, so Clearblack have given us a wine list that dovetails perfectly with our current and planned seasonal menus.”
With the finest wines in the world, eating out in one of the top hotels and restaurants in the UK, with a prestigious range of accolades to its name now tastes even better than ever. As well as showcasing Simon’s talents, East Lodge can also point to the coveted AA “Inspectors’ Choice” Award, with three red stars for 2010 placing it within the top 150 hotels in the whole of the UK and East Lodge remains just one of 48 hotels in the country presented with a Visit England Gold Award.
