With a perfect country house location in the heart of the Peak District and 10 acres of its own grounds, superior hotel and restaurant East Lodge has always enjoyed a reputation for looking good; now the celebrated wedding and conference venue sounds even better too, thanks to great work and innovative new music playlist from Chesterfield-based Imagesound.
Imagesound recognised that East Lodge needed the versatility to have different sounds to set the right tone in each of its key public spaces and developed a bespoke soundtrack accordingly. The appropriate music for the restaurant is not always the same as that played in the bar area so the playlist blended by Imagesound allows this to be changed and is regularly updated.
“We are delighted with the work Imagesound has done and with our new music in place we can create an even more atmospheric experience for our guests,” said East Lodge Managing Director Iain Hardman. “I have never experienced such friendly and efficient service that is such phenomenal value for money and we would have no hesitation in recommending their work. Throughout the process, they have made us feel like their only customer - even helping us on a Sunday while we were still getting used to the new system. Needless to say, we are impressed.”
The association between food and music has a long history, making the link between music and meals a potent combination. The tunes are a mix of easy listening but interestingly, classical music always seems to go down well at breakfast and this is reflected in the new playlist. In the music industry, common words used to analyse musical composition are note and texture – both terms equally applied in the food industry, as Head Chef Simon Bradley can attest to. The Imagesound system allows for themes, so the percentage of festive music has been slowly increasing throughout December.
“At East Lodge there was a need to deliver soundtracks that would complement the surroundings rather than detract from them,” said Imagesound’s Rebecca Thompson. “The challenge was to find music that would harmonise with the existing qualities of the venue without being overpowering or repetitive, and we hope guests will sense this has been discreetly achieved.”
“East Lodge is all about guest experience and we needed our music to reflect this,” added Iain. “Our atmosphere is not ‘painted on the walls’ but is rather something tangible to be experienced and tasted. East Lodge is a venue to be savoured and with Imagesound’s help; I think we have struck just the right note.”
Music may be the food of love for and at East Lodge people love the food even more thanks to Imagesound. Owned by the Hardman family, this award winning venue has remained at the top by constantly improving its service and living by the motto that good enough isn’t good enough: a drive for excellence that has led this former Hotel of the Year to be one of only 48 hotels in the country to be awarded a Visit England Gold Award and to be once again attending the national finals of the Enjoy England Excellence Awards in 2011 for Outstanding Customer Service and music to the ears of all who stay there.
