Mothering Sunday Lunch – Sunday 6th March 2016



Cream of white onion soup, scented with bay leaf
Highfield house black pudding, haggis bonbon and sausage roll with swede purée, HP hollandaise and pork juices
Smoked salmon served with chopped onions, capers, brown bread and a lemon wedge
Classic cold water prawn cocktail with iceberg lettuce and Marie Rose sauce
East Lodge smoked haddock fishcake with pea purée and aged balsamic
Duck liver parfait, devil on horseback and red onion chutney with toasted granary bread
Parmigiana di Melanzane, baked layers of aubergine, tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil & Parmesan
Duo of pressed melons with seasonal berries and passion fruit sorbet 


Main Courses

Please choose your traditional “Roast” from:
* Prime, local 35 day aged Aberdeen Angus Sirloin of beef with a Yorkshire pudding
* Roast loin of Mill Close farm, Gloucestershire Old Spot pork with crackling & apple sauce
* Roast breast of Barlow turkey, apricot stuffing and cranberry sauce
All these dishes are served with roast potatoes, homemade Yorkshire puddings and side dishes of mixed seasonal vegetables, and real gravy.
Breast of free range chicken, bubble and squeak, a fricassee of sprouts and pancetta, parsnip puree and pickled cauliflower with a thyme scented velouté
Slow roast rump of locally reared Derbyshire lamb, sweet garlic mash, caramelised shallots, parsley crumb and Vichy carrots with a Cabernet Sauvignon reduction
Vermouth poached supreme of wild salmon with mousseline potatoes and a vegetable butter sauce with shaved fennel and dill oil
Creamed leek and woodland mushroom Pithivier with truffle mash and Port braised salsify


Dark chocolate brownie with orange segments, burnt white chocolate crumb & coffee ice cream
Vanilla crème brûlée with a homemade shortbread
Bakewell pudding with almond custard and strawberry ice cream
