Multi award-winning Derbyshire hotel and restaurant, East lodge, is once again cooking up something good for the forthcoming Buxton Festival in July; it is sending its star chefs to take part in the Festival’s ‘A Taste of the Peaks’ event.

Talking place from 7-25 July, the Buxton Festival will be the platform for numerous literary and culinary events and on Saturday 17 July, chefs from East Lodge Hotel’s double AA rosette winning restaurant will be presenting a live interactive cookery demonstration. The demonstration will be taking place at 3.00pm in the University of Derby’s stunning Devonshire Dome, with tickets available priced at just £6.

The chefs from East Lodge will be showing the audience how regionally sourced top quality produce can be used to make delicious meals at home, just like they do at an award winning restaurant like the one at East Lodge.

“Our chefs are already looking forward to cooking up something special for the Buxton Festival, so the audience is in for a real treat,” said East Lodge managing director Iain Hardman. “The chefs at East Lodge have established not just a local but a national reputation and I am sure the meals they serve up will inspire the audience.”

Along with ‘A Taste of the Peaks’, East Lodge is also sponsoring the literary speech being given by the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire. As the closest hotel to Chatsworth House, East Lodge was a natural choice to sponsor the speech by Her Grace and comes in the wake of the hotel sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to the Dowager Duchess at the Visit Peak District Tourism Awards back in March.

During the 1970s, the Buxton Festival was known as a prominent rock venue, but the festival can trace its roots back to 1936, when an annual drama festival was held (in conjunction with London’s famous Old Vic Theatre) until 1942. Today the focus of the festival has returned very much to an arts theme in terms of performance, which includes opera, food and drink.

The focus on food and local produce has led East Lodge to be involved on the culinary side this year and to further develop its links with the event. The dishes being demonstrated are still under wraps - but for those who cannot wait for the Buxton Festival to sample some high quality fare from East Lodge – you can always book a table at East Lodge for an advance ‘taster’ of what is to come.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a wide range of prestigious accolades over recent years. The hotel has again achieved the coveted AA “Inspectors’ Choice” accolade with three red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and East Lodge is one of just 48 hotels in UK presented with a Visit England Gold Award.
