East Lodge searches for new hospitality stars .

As unemployment levels continue to rise and many businesses feel the chill of the country’s continuing economic woes, one multi award-winning Peak District employer in Rowsley is pleased to announce it is bucking this trend and now recruiting for several senior staff positions.

Rowsley’s, Elyzian Hospitality Group Ltd which operates multi-award winning East Lodge hotel and restaurant and also Callow Hall has several positions available within the group including Head Chef at their new venture, Restaurant Manager, Weddings and Special Events co-ordinator, plus opportunities for Duty Managers and full and/or part-time general assistant positions. This is a rare chance to join an award-winning team and represents a unique opportunity to make a mark within the hospitality industry.

“At East Lodge we have always made a point of recruiting locally and from within where possible,” said East Lodge deputy managing director Iain Hardman. “But due to the expansion of the business, we are looking to recruit new staff and now seems the perfect time to be giving the Derbyshire economy a boost. We welcome applications from individuals who are as passionate about the hospitality industry as we are; and while experience is obviously essential for the senior roles, if you think you have got what it takes to start as a general assistant and impress us, we are very happy to hear from you.”

East Lodge has long had a tradition of employees starting at the bottom and working their way up and this has applied to most of the senior staff – including Iain Hardman himself. The hospitality industry is one where, with the right attitude, you can make it right to the top.

“We have a rigorous on-going staff development scheme, as East Lodge accepts no compromises when it comes to customer service,” added Iain. “That’s one reason why we continue to win so many awards. I’m proud to say that I worked my way up the hospitality ladder too, which means that I never ask any member of staff to do something I haven’t done or wouldn’t do myself.

I think it shows that if you have what it takes, you can forge an amazing career in the hospitality industry. We look forward to seeing many strong candidates over the coming weeks.”

While there are several opportunities for candidates to prove themselves at East Lodge, for a venue that has made its name in quality cuisine, eyes will inevitably be drawn to the coveted role of Head Chef at the company’s new venture. For the successful candidate, this will be a unique chance to work alongside East Lodge’s Executive Chef Simon Bradley and his 3AA Rosette team, so the hotel is anticipating applications from outstanding candidates looking to take their skills to the very highest level.

“Recruiting in the hospitality industry is a bit like being a football manager,” explained Iain. “It’s talent and commitment we are looking for and if someone joins us at 18 (or much younger with some examples) and works through our training schedule, in a couple of years they will be working their way towards being some of the best in the industry. Finding a team you can trust implicitly to look after your customers is not easy and it is only once new staff understand our systems and fully appreciate the importance of our guests that they are finally allowed to face East Lodge customers. It’s a challenge, but one we hope a new generation of people will look to take up.”
